Assignment 01 Final Submission

                                            Art Gallery

The theme I want to express here are "Move" and "Depressed". Up-ground part are the studio for Malangi and the gallery. With the changing scale and rotation of the triangular shape suggest the theme of move. Also the changing height of the skylight and windows helped to show the movement. Under-ground part using narrow passageway and dark colours to suggest the kind of "depressed".

The Artist

Malangi, Diver in the tree. Key Word: Life, Move, Soft

Banksy, The Cans Festival in Leake Street. Key Word: Scare, Suicide, Depressed

The Section

Top: Malangi, Move. Bottom: Banksy, Depressed.

The Architecture

The overall view of the architecture
Close outside-view of the up-ground part. Changing of the geometrical shapes suggests the sense of "Move".

Top-view of the roof, we can see the skylight bring the natural light into the building.
We can get into the building through the entrance on the lift.
The gallery on the ground floor. Thanks for the glass roof, natural light can be use as the daytime lighting.
The stair connects the  gallery and Malangi's studio. Different length of the steps and orderless angular shapes shows the theme of Movement.
Through the glass stair, we can come to the first floor which is the Malangi's studio. The windows on the wall step back and forward give a sense of "Move".

The gallery has been connected with Banksy's studio (under-ground), through a winding staircase. A dwarf wall has been built to suggest a sense of "welcoming" and help visitors to determine the location of the stair.
When you going down the stair to Banksy's studio, the only thing you can see is a narrow space surrounded by dark walls.
The passageway which lead you to the studio is getting from wide to narrow with dark colour together provide the sense of "depressed".

Through the narrow passageway, you went to a large space which is the Banksy's studio 1.
The overall view of the under-ground part. Two larger studio space connected by narrow passageway. The passageway goes back to the entrance part to make a endless circle, so you can go around and around in those dark narrow passageways. This also suggests "depressed"

Sketch work

Intro

This is one of the projects I'v done in my foundation year. It's a light designed to represent the theme of "Urbanisation". Changes in the height and size of the geometric forms create the principle of scale and express the sprawling cityscapes and the shift towards urbanisation in Australia. Repetition of the forms and simple color used in the design also help to strengthen the monotony of urban environments.

This is the Louvre Pyramid designed by I.M.Pei. Diamond-shaped and triangular panes were held together by a structural system. The main pyramid is flanked on three sides with reflecting pools. The effect was to further lighten the form by making it appear on the water.

It's a photo of aurora, a kind of beautiful, miraculous and peaceful. I wish one day I can enjoy myself there.

MUECK: scale, sleep, massive

MALANGI: life, move, soft

BANKSY: scare, suicide, depressed
