Art Gallery
The theme I want to express here are "Move" and "Depressed". Up-ground part are the studio for Malangi and the gallery. With the changing scale and rotation of the triangular shape suggest the theme of move. Also the changing height of the skylight and windows helped to show the movement. Under-ground part using narrow passageway and dark colours to suggest the kind of "depressed".
The Artist
Malangi, Diver in the tree. Key Word: Life, Move, Soft |
Banksy, The Cans Festival in Leake Street. Key Word: Scare, Suicide, Depressed |
The Section
Top: Malangi, Move. Bottom: Banksy, Depressed. |
The Architecture
The overall view of the architecture |
Close outside-view of the up-ground part. Changing of the geometrical shapes suggests the sense of "Move". |
Top-view of the roof, we can see the skylight bring the natural light into the building. |
We can get into the building through the entrance on the lift. |
The gallery on the ground floor. Thanks for the glass roof, natural light can be use as the daytime lighting. |
The stair connects the gallery and Malangi's studio. Different length of the steps and orderless angular shapes shows the theme of Movement. |
Through the glass stair, we can come to the first floor which is the Malangi's studio. The windows on the wall step back and forward give a sense of "Move". |
When you going down the stair to Banksy's studio, the only thing you can see is a narrow space surrounded by dark walls. |
The passageway which lead you to the studio is getting from wide to narrow with dark colour together provide the sense of "depressed". |
Through the narrow passageway, you went to a large space which is the Banksy's studio 1. |
